Announcement of the 3rd RadioNet Engineering Forum Workshop:
Cryogenic Low Noise Components
June 19 through June 20 2006, in Onsala, Sweden.
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce the RadioNet Engineering Forum Workshop "Cryogenic Low Noise Components". The workshop will be held June 19-20, 2006 at Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden. The meeting is hosted by Onsala Space Observatory and its instrumentation group GARD. This meeting is the third in a series of the engineering workshops sponsored and organized by the EU Consortium RadioNet within the Sixth Framework Program of the European Commission.
For information on the Radionet Engineering Forum see
The poster of the Workshop is available as a pdf file.
Workshop Objectives
The aim of the workshop is to review the state-of-the-art in the field of cryogenic low-noise components for radioastronomy instrumentation, in an attempt to identify key technologies (including passive devices, quasioptics, amplifiers, mixers and their internal and external components) that best address the requirements of currently built and future radio instruments. The meeting should bring together engineers and scientists from all over the world facilitating possible international collaborations. We also welcome industrial participants in this event as well.
Programme
The workshop scope overlaps with RadioNet JRA AMSTAR to a very large extent. The dates for this event were intentionally chosen to merge the half-annual AMSTAR Meeting and the RadioNet Engineering Forum Workshop on "Cryogenic Low Noise Components" into one bigger event. The entire day on June 19 will be open for presentations, which are not currently part of the AMSTAR activities. We plan to allocate June 20 for presentations on the RadioNet JRA AMSTAR only.
Topics will include:
- Cryogenic low-noise active components: amplifiers and mixers
- Cryogenic optics and passive components for low-noise systems
- Cryogenic systems for radioastronomy instruments: cooling, vibrations
- Around components for cryogenic receiver systems
- System integration: cryogenic, EMI, etc.
The program for the Workshop and the AMSTAR meeting is available here as a pdf file.
Proceedings
Presentations will be made available via Internet on the RadioNet Web-pages and the EngineeringForum Wiki page.

Registration
Registration for the workshop can be made by sending an e-mail to Monica Hansen, please indicate in your mail wheter you wish to give a presentation and if you will be attending the conference dinner on the evening of June 19. A list of participants can be found here.
Attendees who will give presentations should send a title and abstract (100 words maximum) to Miroslav Pantaleev as soon as possible or latest by May 22, 2006.
Participation in the Workshop is free of charge. The size of the conference facilities will limit the number of attendees to approximately 50 people,we will therefore give advantage for ealier registrants.
Accommodation and aVenue
The workshop will be held at the Onsala Space Observatory on June 19, and on June 20, at GARD , Chalmers University of Technology Campus. A block of rooms for workshop attendees has been reserved at hotel Panorama through 2006 June 17 - 20, at a reduced rate (note the deadline of May 27, room availability after this date is not guaranteed). Attendees are responsible for their own hotel registration, which can be assisted by Monica Hansen.
