This is an effort to accommodate the software infrastructure for some of the ALBUS implementations. For this we have adopted a project to make a Python interface for classic AIPS. This has been nicknamed ParselTongue. A detailed motivation for this can be found on the FutureProcessing page.

In February 2005, MarkKettenis visited Bill Cotton to work on the implementation of ParselTongue.

At the FirstSoftwareForumMeeting, MarkKettenis gave a presentation about ParselTongue. The slides of this presentation can be found in the ProceedingsFirstSoftwareForumMeeting.

In December 2007, MarkKettenis attended the AstroGrid/RadioNet workshop for radio data providers, to give two presentations about ParselTongue and assist with the Workgroups that featured ParselTongue.

The final deliverable of this workpackage is ParselTongue 1.1.1: parseltongue-1.1.1.tar.gz. Newer versions will be available from the JIVE Wiki: http://www.jive.nl/dokuwiki/doku.php/parseltongue:parseltongue.

More information about ParselTongue is available on the ParselTongue page.
